Swarovski History starts with Daniel Swarovski, born in 1862 in Bohemia, having been fascinated with the play of light in crystal from early childhood.

In 1892, Daniel invented a machine to industrially cut crystal jewelry stones to a level of perfection and precision unsurpassed in the world of crystal.

In 1895 Daniel moved from Bohemia to Wattens in Tyrol in the Alps due to enough water supply and energy to form a water power.
Swarovski History advanced when Fronz Weis and Armond Kosmann founded in 1895 the foundation for today's company, thus beginning a new era in the world of crystal.

In 1913 Daniel, with three sons Wilhelm, Friderich, and Alfred, built a crystal production plant to provide raw material of super quality.

In 1919, they marketed under the name of Tyrolet Grinding and Dressing Tools which to this day are top three suppliers worldwide for crystal grinding and dressing tools.

Swarovski History made another noted advancement in 1956 with the introduction of a colorful jewelry stone by using a special steam treatment creating the "Aurora Borealis" which shimmers with iridescent coloring producing rainbows galore. 

In 1960, the first sales team was founded which lead to world wide distribution of crystal products by 44 company distribution sites and trade associations. In 1972 the crystal company introduced a popular moonstone which changes colors according to the mood a person is in.

By the late 1960s Swarovski's crystal stones stones were used in home design fashion and jewelry markets worldwide.

In 1973, Mark Shreck created the first Swarovski Crystal mouse out of Chandelier parts by accident and a new line of Silver Crystal animals followed.

By 1976, Swarovski's business expanded, being committed to silver crystal fine figurines and collectables. The first crystal collectable sale by Swarovski was the mouse.

In 1987, the first annual edition piece, lovebirds, was created by Mark Shreck and Adi Stocker. This was followed by more animal figurines, candleholders, and decorative accessories. Swarovski Silver Crystal was born.

In 1995, the company celebrated 100 years of design with the prominent century swan in silver crystal.

To cut hard materials such as crystal and gems to have 100 identical facets in many directions is a compicated task.

Due to latest computer technology the company was able to perfect this hi-tech fine cutting technique to mark 100 years of dedicated work.

This resulted in making yet another milestone in Swarovski History.
